First Site Visit of the Year as Work Gets Underway at Oxford House

The original fluted king post trusses at third floor level

We are very excited to see this conversion of the former Oxford House mill building in Macclesfield into apartments now on-site.

During our first building site visit of 2023, we were treated to the historic beauty revealed by the strip-out works. The building has 2 wings arranged in an L-shaped plan and the construction varies slightly between the wings. At the third floor level, there are some beautiful original fluted king post trusses. This historic building is presenting some interesting challenges in terms of acoustic separation between new apartments,  and external wall insulation details to ensure that it both complies with current building regulations and that its future longevity is secured.

It's always exciting to see an existing building stripped back to its shell before construction begins.
